Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution

March 27th, 2010 by Erik

I’ve been a big fan of Jamie Oliver for years, there’s just something about the guy. Coincidentally, I’ve been a huge fan of cooking ever since childhood. When this show premiered last week, I knew it would be great. After just watching the second episode, I realized that it’s beyond great. His dream is to change the way our kids eat, starting with our schools (talk about an uphill battle). Anyway, this very well could be one of the single most important television shows to air this decade. The message is clear and the guy is genuine, we need to eat better food. Sure, it may take a little more time to prepare than a microwave dinner or snagging a fast food meal, but it certainly will be more enjoyable. It’s worth the time and effort.

Anyway, you can learn more about the show on ABC’s site:

P.S. Sweet logo too, eh? Props to the design team!

Happy Birthday .com!!!

Wow, today is the 25th birthday of the first .com ever registered! Can you believe it? 25 years ago people actually had to go to the library for information, read a physical newspaper, write letters, rent movies at the video store, the list goes on. Life was rough. Happy Bithday .com, you have served us well. You can read more here.

Leo Kottke – Vaseline Machine Gun

March 3rd, 2010 by Erik

Just found some sweet old footage of Leo Kottke. The audio quality is a bit rough but the video is fantastic, you have to love the 4 screens. The guy has so much power and force in his hands, it’s almost surreal. For those of you that do know of him, enough said. For those that don’t, Leo Kottke developed a picking style that’s…well beyond anything really. Lightning speed, dead solid rhythm and perhaps one of the funniest musicians you would ever see live. His stage banter is up there with some of the best, the guy almost talks as much as he plays.

I have to thank my friend Will for turning me on to Kottke during the late ’90’s, I’ve been a huge fan ever since. When I bought his first album (6 and 12 String Guitar), it didn’t leave the cd player for a month.
